Amount Awarded: $3,382.12
Grant Recipient: Heather Farabaugh, Simon Nortman, & Dana Tumminia
School/Grade: Clark Mills School (Grades 1–5)
This grant expands the graphic novel collection in the Clark Mills Media Center, increasing access to high-interest titles that support vocabulary development, comprehension, and engagement. Graphic novels currently account for a significant portion of student checkouts, yet demand continues to surpass supply.
By increasing the number and diversity of graphic novels, this initiative supports reluctant readers, English Language Learners, and students who benefit from visual storytelling formats. The improved collection will encourage independent reading, boost literacy skills, and ensure all students can find materials that spark curiosity and joy.
