About Us

Who We Are:  The Foundation for MERS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created during the 2009-2010 school year by a group of dedicated parents and community members who wanted to revolutionize the education system in our district. We are managed by a board of volunteer trustees and operate independently of the Board of Education and Parent Teacher Organizations. Our primary objective is collaborating with these organizations, district administrators, and teachers to bring cutting-edge educational resources to our schools. We strive to enhance children's education in our district by bringing innovative and resourceful ideas beyond district funds' limitations.

What We Do: The Foundation for MERS provides financial assistance to PK-8 schools in our district since its inception. We have funded over $1 Million in grants for various educational programs, state-of-the-art technology, teacher training, and support for arts to create an enriched learning environment for every child. Our funding is generated from various sources, such as individual donations, family donations, community business sponsorships, grants from private foundations, and special events. We conduct two grant cycles annually, where teachers and administrators can propose programs or resources that they believe will positively impact education. These funds could be used for district-wide programs, classroom or school materials, or professional development.

Mission:  Our mission is to educate, enrich and empower our PK-8 students by collaborating with our community to provide resources to our schools. We do this by investing in impactful school programs and initiatives.

Vision: Our vision is that every student across our district has educational opportunities that foster growth and help them reach their full potential.
