On May 13th, The Foundation for MERS presented a commemorative check and The Patricia Berger “Quest for Knowledge” Cup to Clark Mills School in recognition of their victory in the Foundation’s inaugural Clothing Drive.
The award was handed off by Ricardo G. Rivers, President of the Foundation, and warmly accepted by Principal Jayme Orlando. Other board members in attendance were Maria Mallamaci, Vice President; Patricia Berger, Immediate Past President; Gannon Wallach, Fundraising Chair; Mirsad Capric, Trustee; and Diane Gianettino, Trustee.
The first-ever Clothing Drive, held across all district schools in April 2025, collected thousands of pounds of gently used garments. “This event brought our community together,” said Principal Orlando. “We’re grateful to The Foundation, our students and their families for making a real difference.”
The Foundation expresses its gratitude to every school, student volunteer, and community donor for their participation and looks forward to building on this success next year. “This drive exemplifies the power of community,” said Ricardo G. Rivers, President of The Foundation. “We’re proud to support our students and schools in ways that enrich lives, foster unity, and inspire future giving.”
The Foundation for MERS was established to support innovative programs, classroom grants, and student enrichment initiatives. The Foundation collaborates with teachers, families, and businesses to expand learning opportunities throughout the district. For more information, visit foundation4mers.org.
