In a heartfelt ceremony, the Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education formally honored Patricia Berger, Founder and Immediate Past President of The Foundation for MERS, with a Proclamation of Appreciation, recognizing her visionary leadership and lasting contributions to the district and community.
During the ceremony, Christine Parisi, Board of Education member and former Trustee of The Foundation, delivered an emotional tribute to Berger’s extraordinary legacy:
"It’s both an honor and an emotional moment for me to stand before you tonight to recognize someone who has not only shaped the heart of our education foundation but who has also left an indelible mark on our community — our founding President, Pat Berger," said Parisi.
Since its inception, The Foundation for MERS has been a beacon of opportunity, thanks to Berger’s vision, passion, and unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student has access to enrichment beyond the classroom. From securing funding for new technology to championing programs in music, science, and the arts, Berger’s efforts have expanded the horizons of countless students.
"Pat Berger is more than a founder," Parisi continued. "She is a caring leader, a compassionate friend, and a tireless advocate for our students. She led not with ego, but with empathy — not with authority, but with heart."
The Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education adopted a Resolution of Appreciation to honor Berger’s lifetime of service — a fitting tribute to a legacy that will continue to shape the district for years.
The ceremony celebrated not only Berger’s service but also the ripple effect her work will have on future generations of students, teachers, and community members.
