Matthew Schiller
Matthew J. Schiller is a partner at Murphy Schiller & Wilkes LLP, a boutique law firm based in Newark, NJ, specializing in commercial real estate and development matters. Matthew leads the firm’s Commercial Leasing and Distressed Assets practice groups. He regularly represents clients in a wide range of real estate transactional and litigation matters throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and the country.
Matthew is a fellow with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and recently served as the Chair of the Real Property Trust and Estate Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (2022-2023), and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. He frequently serves as a moderator and lecturer for programming sponsored by the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education and numerous other organizations. Matthew has received multiple recognitions in connection with his real estate practice, including being designated by Chambers and Partners (Real Estate-New Jersey) (2021-2024), New Jersey Super Lawyers (2021-2025), Best Lawyers in America (2025), and has been designated by ROI New Jersey as an ROI Influencer: Real Estate — Service Providers (2020-2024). In addition, Matthew was the recent recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s 2024-2025 Arthur S. Horn Award for distinguished service in real estate law.
Matthew received his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was the Associate Managing Editor of the Washington University Journal of Law & Policy, and received his B.A. with honors from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), where he was the captain of Trinity’s varsity swimming team. Matt and his wife, Laura, reside in Manalapan, New Jersey, along with their children, Brody, Chloe and Sydney, and their dog, Yogi.
