On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the world-famous Harlem Wizards basketball team played two games in the MEMS Main gym in Manalapan. The event was sponsored by The Foundation for MERS. The MERS all-star team, comprised of district staff members and administrators, played against the Wizards. Students, parents, and community members packed the stands to cheer on their favorite faculty players. The Wizards showcased their tricks and theatrical antics, and the games once again were a huge success.
Thanks to the generous support of the community, the Harlem Wizards Fundraising Event has successfully raised over $25,000 for The Foundation for MERS. These funds will be used to provide educational resources to the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School (“MERS”) district. The Foundation for MERS heavily relies on fundraising to continue advancing innovative teacher grants that benefit all students in the MERS District. With this successful event, we can continue to provide much-needed resources to the district and support the educational needs of its students.
Both games were truly impressive, with basketball fans and non-fans alike watching in awe at the players’ skills, teamwork, slick dribbling, alley-oops, and crazy slams. The Wizards also put on a funny, theatrical, exciting, and spectacular performance that filled the gym with oohs & aahs, laughter, and enthusiasm.
The Foundation for MERS has partnered with The World-Famous Harlem Wizards since 2015 and was thrilled to host them again. Patricia Berger, President of the Foundation for MERS, said, “They put on a great show for all ages, and we appreciate the support of our community and sponsors who made this event a great success. Everyone had a fantastic time!”
